Alternative venues in Milan, to stand out from the rest, to offer something new, a color, a flavor, a new and original sensation. This city is a great laboratory of experiments, sometimes of confirmation, sometimes of innovation. This is why in Milan we have venues different, extravagant, sometimes unique in the world.

We've got some ideas for a whimsical, quirky, and unconventional evening:
Shambala
Among Milan's unique restaurants, Shambala is one of the most historic. Its Tibetan name means "place of peace and happiness," and its atmosphere offers hours of tranquility and peace, especially when you can enjoy the splendid Zen-style garden with its "large trees" in the warmer months. The cuisine here is distinctly Oriental, yet always original and refined, overseen by the Japanese-Brazilian chef, who reinterprets Thai and Vietnamese recipes with his own unique and refined style. Try the Balinese-style calamari (marinated calamari in mabuu sauce, cabbage, and bitter melon) and the Shambala-style scallops (marinated in curry, served with rice and water spinach) and then you'll see if this fusion cuisine isn't worth experiencing.
Pisacco
Among Milan's unique restaurants, the newest addition to the Michelin-starred menu is Pisacco, a restaurant founded under the guidance of Andrea Berton. With his signature minimalist, modern, and contemporary style, Berton brings culinary delights to your plate, including his celebrated hamburger, among the best in the city, and other delicacies that, whether for their presentation or their original flavor, will open you to new explorations of taste and gastronomic pleasure.
God Save The Food
Simply ideal for the most anticipated moment of the week, brunch, at Good Save The Food you'll find your much-needed and long-awaited space throughout the week. The industrial-style loft space benefits from the light provided by large windows, a perfect accompaniment to a slow Sunday morning awakening, accompanied by a sip of espresso, a bite of scrambled eggs, and a sampling of Asian-inspired dishes cooked in a wok. Perfect if you're looking for a brunch that's different from the usual American fare in Italy, yet still maintains the international flavor that defines this time of day.
Brusca Grass
Erba Brusca's acclaim transcends seasons: it's a popular spot for all tastes—in spring, to admire the budding vegetable garden; in summer, to fully enjoy its fruits while dining al fresco; in autumn, to curl up with a steaming soup; and in winter, to escape the city grind. Backed by Alice Delcourt's creative, Mediterranean cuisine, the "vegetable garden with kitchen," as Erba Brusca likes to call itself, is the essence of this unique restaurant. Returning to its roots and its connection to the land in the strictest sense (organic production of aromatic herbs and seasonal vegetables), it offers great pleasures at the table and beyond. The menu features couscous with smoked mackerel and yogurt sauce, savory tarte tatin with seasonal vegetables, and spaghetti with clams, bottarga, and erba brusca. We're sure you're already wondering how to get there.
Ratanà
But if you're a naturalist/organic eater, if locally sourced food is your thing, and you're craving nothing but seasonal produce, Ratanà is the city's answer to rural desires, thanks to Chef Cesare Battisti's skill, transformed into tasty bites and sommelier Danilo Ingannamorte's mouthwatering sips. The offerings are clearly seasonal, but you'll always find homemade pasta, various risottos (Milanese-style, with ossobuco, is on the menu year-round), and main courses of freshwater fish and meat. Vegetarian and celiac options are also available. And it's worth considering your wine selection, as the cellar boasts around 500 labels, including Italian and French wines, as well as the "Vini Carissima" section, which pays homage to the bold choices of some Italian producers.
Vietnamonamour
Thinking of a unique restaurant in Milan? The first thing that comes to mind is Christiane Blanchet's Vietnamopur, which has transformed this restaurant into a truly charming place, an act of love for her native Vietnam. Here, you'll find a traditional Eastern spirit blended with a more modern, Western touch, complemented by furnishings sourced directly from Vietnam and blended with other designer pieces. The cuisine, including Vietnamese soups, egg rolls, and lotus leaf sea bream, reflects a fusion of French and Vietnamese traditions, creating unmissable pairings to complement the wine from the cellar, recommended by Christine's partner, Dario.
The bicycles
In Milan, a while back, if you asked for a particular place, the recommendation was always the same: Le Biciclette, an "art bistro" where food and art are inseparably linked, and which still represents a hub for the curious and innovators who still want to experience a cutting-edge tradition like Le Biciclette. Here, you can have brunch, dinner, or aperitivo—one of the city's most famous—while browsing an exhibition, bumping into a young photographer, and pumping up your bike tires!
Kitchen Society
A unique restaurant in Milan cannot exist without a cuisine that reflects this distinctiveness: this is exactly what happens at Kitchen Society, where chef Alex Seveso offers his Italian-style sushi, blending traditional preparations from the best sushi masters with Mediterranean ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil, basil, capers, and olives. Alongside the sushi, of course, the other undisputed star remains the exquisite Spanish Pata Negra ham, which, in addition to being the centerpiece of the table, also takes center stage in the décor, hanging from the ceiling just like in the Spanish jamonerias of old.
Workshop 12
The restaurants along Milan's Navigli district are a surefire choice for those seeking a unique restaurant that balances tradition and innovation. Officina 12 is a prime example. Here, you can enjoy classic risottos, including ossobuco, fillets, tartare, and fresh homemade pasta, as well as a selection of dishes featuring the catch of the day, transformed into creations that always have a unique flavor. In the evening, you can also enjoy an easy pizza made with select ingredients and baked in a wood-fired oven, while vegetarians will always find something to suit their taste. The ambiance, divided into different spaces, is what makes the difference: from the intimate and romantic Officina room to the informal Loft room and the Jazz room, adorned with photographs of musicians and famous album covers. And then there's the unmissable outdoor space, which is accessible even in winter because it's enclosed and heated.
